Macro Mini-Milestones

Given a large project on the scale of months/years

• You can't break the whole thing down into mini-milestones to produce an accurate estimate.

So break your project down into pieces of a few weeks.

• Estimate each of these macro milestones.

• Do one macro milestone using mini-milestone techniques

• Compare the real time it took vs your original estimate.

• Expand or contract the rest of your macro milestone estimates by that factor.

• Repeat until your estimates are accurate.
